We all know kids love to have cakes or something sweet in their lunchbox - but shop bought ones are so expensive - and you don't always know what went in them! How about baking your own - it's much cheaper and you can find lots of recipes for more nutritious snacks. Muffins in particular are very easy and quick to make - why not get your kids to help out making them and they'll enjoy eating them even more!

There are loads of organic slug/snail repellents on the market which you can use for conscience-free gardening. One is slug buggers from the wwf shop but there are plenty more. You can also use slug traps - fill them with beer, the slugs can't resist and then they drown. You have to empty them out fairly often which is a bit gross but it's better than them munching on your prize dahlias :o)

if you've ever used a propane bbq and have run out of propane in the middle of cooking something or a big party, you can sympathize with me. Why can't all manufacturers of such tanks put a small meter at the top to show you how much you have left? I've also had the situation where I returned to fill up a new tank and realized that I still had substantial propane left in it only to see it wasted.
